Houston Whip is a slotted variant of swing dance unique to Texas where the woman does a circular body undulation at the end of the slot. Consisting primarily of 6 and 8 count basic patterns Both Houston Whip and Dallas Push are traditionally done to medium tempo rhythm and blues music. Mario Robau served as Dance Director for the Southwest Whip Club of Houston for 18 years, and Houston Whip Club for 2 years. He learned to dance at the famed Rusty Bucket bar, home of the Houston Whip for many years. Private lessons are available.
